The multi-faceted persona of Lee Kuan Yew

May I have the humility to say that  in my career I had made not an insignificant small contribution to the State. It may stretch your imagination that I had prevented the American CIA from dominating Singapore. This is not a fiction but had I succumbed to the allurement of the CIA to become their intelligene agent you don't think that the intelligence  that I could provide them could not be crucially important enough for them to act to act to dominate Singapore to their interest? You think that Singapore will remain the same and Lawrence Wong and Lee Hsien Loong and others can sit on the fat asses and enjoy your luxurious livelihood at the people's expense  pocketing millions of their sweat and blood money.

I will give a glimpse of why the CIA considered me a gem to be acquired at all  cost. I was a memebr of the Special Branch team led by Director Eric Linsell which met Lee Kuan Yew every Saturday  to briefed him on security matters and exchanged views on measures to be made to curb or eradicate them. Sometimes he brought up less sensitive cabinet matters for discussion. So you can see why they thought  I was so important which was partly true but really flattering. I was at the bottom of the hierarchy..

At first I had to deal with a CIA officer  who was obviouly assigned to assess me for authenticity. Later the sent two polygraphers from Saigon where they were having a war with  Communist Vietgong. I was just a normal SB officer and it was God who guided me throughout my interaction with three  burly CIA officers and it really required strong nerves to remain calm in keeping them from discovering my clandestine mission. If Lawrence Wong or Lee Hsien Loong or any civil servant were to take my place. They would have melted even before began dealing with three burly CIA officers. Even my SB colleagues were flabbergasted how I could be so calm in dealing with them if I had no God's blessing.

I was caught unaware when the three CIA suddenly announced that I would have to go through a lie-detector test. That would certain  to expose my mission to play along  with them into believing that I was ready to work for them clandestinely. It put me in a state of inanimatin as to how to invent a plausible excuse to avoid the polygraph test. I could only say that the test would be harmful to my health and I would like some time too think over it. It sounded so childdish that even a toddler would no have believed it. The look of sceptism was obvious on the CIA officers' faces and there will be no lack of sign of suspicion of my authenticity. I was asked to sit aside and they went into a huddle to discuss what action to take. Their personal security was seriously vulnerable and they were capable of taking any preventive action to safeguard their security. There would have been no diffculty for them to escape as CIA could not be deficient in resources.

It seems like eternity but eventually they emerged smiling and one of them spoke to me politely. God must have cast a spell on them. He said to me "Mr. Yoong you may leave. We will meet later." It took me a while for that to sink in and when I realised I made a dash for the door and left the safe house safely. This was my signal for the Special Branch task force  which had been surrounding the safe to to move in to arrest the CIA officers. The two polygraphers managed to escape in a car but were re-captured after a short chase. The pursuing SB officer retrieved the polygraph thrownout of the car by one of the escaping polygraphers and is on display in the ISD Heritage Centre. A four CIA officer masquerading as a first secretary in the US Embassy who was to be my handling officer was given the persona non grata and departed for the US,

The breakup of the US clandestine operation in Singapore was a earth-shattering event that reverberated right up to the White House and severely dismayed the US President John Kennedy. This was the first time that Singapore shot up to the pinnacle of world politics as an ionoclast of the mighty American world face.It propelled a highly renascent Lee Kuan Yews world political standing to a dizzying heiht that he breathed down the neck of Presdent John Kennedy, who was a toughie, and demanded USD 30 million as compensation for  a botched American clandestine operation in Singapore. But President John Kennedy was no push over and simply cocked a snook at Lee Kuan Yew  and ignored his demand.

Lee Kuan Yew was a person who neve anyone, especially a civil servant to steal his thinder in any undertaking that he tasked him to do successfully. So he kept my name out of any press conference but I happened o be not a glory seeker. He made capital out of the incident and roamed the earth to display his political prowess to world leaders. He spoke to a group of world newspapers leaders that the CIA adventure was like a James Bond adventure where even the countries like the Russian Intelliigence Service (SVR)feared to tread..I was immediately promoted and was awarded the Meritorous Service Medal but what Lee Kuan yew grabbed for hunself needless to say, apart from world political standing, largess that anybody can guess.

My name is in the ISD Hertage Centre board of honour holding a pride of position. I helped the ISD for four years builiding and up-dating their archive of information. I wrote a memoir which they find useful in teaching young officers. But my humble efforts seem to float into the wilderness like the Chinese say "Look but did not see" (视而不见.). When I retired I had only a poverty pension which remained stagnant  while cost of living keeps rising. Our Pensioners.s Association presient and vice-preseident approached the government for a smaill raise to keep up with inflation as people like me were living on semi-starvation. Can you bellieve what our representatives were told.?  You have served your pupose, what you get is enough and we are waiting  for  you to die. And this was tacitly endorsed by the most compassionate Lee Hsien Loong who was the PM. Do you thnk they are human to make such a cruel and inhuman utterance?  Can we invite both Lawrence Wong and Lee Hsien Loong to try and live on our poverty pension, in my case $1545. If you can survive I will eat my hat. While you poket millions of the people's sweat and blood money we only ask for a pittance to survive. Are you really human?

It cannot be denied that Lawrence Wong is doing a good job as the new prime minister, much better than the woody and moronic Lee Hsien Loong. He made quite frequent visits to cement cordial relations with leaders of foreign countries. He has gullible supporters to vote in his government every election. But he pockets millions of people's money, more than four times the salary of the Ameican president. We have asked to explain what kind of golden service that requires such hugh salary? We are still waiting for your answer. You think you can lift your golden hand to write or open your golden mouth to tell us .We are human being citizens of Singapore and voted you to give us a fair and egalitarian living. That's what a democratic government is expected to do or are you a plutocratic government? That means you serve yourselves first and serve us after that.

We appeal to you if you are a human and with compassionate feelings.no to leave us in he lurch living in semi-starvation.

God will bless you. Amen
